Born into a musical family, Pat Metheny was working with the best jazz musicians in Kansas City by the age of 15. The artist leapt onto the international jazz scene in 1974, and his skills evolved into a trademark sound that mainstreams traditional jazz with modern instruments and stylings. Often credited with the re-invention of the traditional "jazz guitar" sound, Metheny's career peaked in the '80s, and he continues to challenge the jazz genre by utilizing new technology.
